![]() CARE IN THE SUN ONE-MINUTE FILM COMPETITION 2009 COMPETITION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 21ST AUGUST 2009 Young people in Northern Ireland are being invited by Care in the Sun to create a 60 second short film to explore the statement ‘Skin Cancer is a Burning Issue.’ Filmmakers are asked to be as creative as they can in 60 seconds in interpreting this message, which links the danger of sunburn from the sun or from a sunbed to the development of skin damage and skin cancer. Films can be anything to do with Skin Cancer and the best will be showased on our YouTube channel and website. ![]()
LAUNCH The Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF) and the Northern Ireland Melanoma Strategy implementation group (NIMSIG) are launching the competition to raise awareness of Skin Cancer across Northern Ireland this summer.
JUDGING Contestants are being offered the chance to show their work to leaders in the Northern Ireland film and entertainment industry, who are kindly giving their time to judge this competition - “It's certainly challenging to squeeze any film idea into just sixty seconds, but if you have enough imagination anything is possible. Entrants should be as creative as they can - whether it's sun protection on the beach or an artistic animation. The theme should release a host of possibilities.”
PRIZES The overall winner will receive a cash prize of £500
The under 18s winner will receive a cash prize of £150
Special Category – Media Student entry will receive a cash prize of £150
The people’s choice winner will receive a cash prize of £150
COMPETITION ENTRIES All successful entries will also be displayed on the Care in the Sun website www.CareInTheSun.org. All eligible entries will be hosted on Care in the Sun’s YouTube channel www.YouTube.com/CareintheSun , where the public can view all of the entries accepted for the competition.
