SKIN CANCER - A BURNING ISSUE

AIM

To raise awareness of skin cancer issues pertaining to exposure to UV radiation from sunlight and sunbeds.

OBJECTIVES

1. To increase awareness of the adverse health effects of over exposure to sun / UV radiation including skin cancer risks.

2. To present the results and recommendations of the Care in the Sun Omnibus survey 2008 .

3. To present the results and recommendations from the Enviromental Health Survey of Sunbed Providers in NI, 2007.

4. To overview the Committee on Medical Aspects of Radiation in the Environment (COMARE) report on sunbed legislation in the UK.

5. To share best practice in promoting sun / UV protection and to consider the way forward for skin cancer prevention in NI.

This conference is appropriate to all those involved in sun and ultraviolet protection, including Environmental Health, Health Promotion, Education, Health and Safety, Dermatology, Health Research and Policy Makers.
